Snowshoeing

Went from Tibble to Granite Flat on snowshoes.

First Time Snow-shoeing!

Victor and I "slept-in" till about 7:30. I convinced Victor that we should have a quick breakfast and then attend the temple in the morning (instead of in the evening after snow-shoeing). We participated in temple sealings. The sealer with us was the one who previously set Victor apart as a veil worker on his mission[Merrill J Bateman]. He asked our group questions and prompted pondering of the ordinances, covenants, and promised blessings. As we were headed to get ready to leave, we found one of Victor’s mission buddies serving in the Provo Referral Center mission, there at the temple as a worker. Victor introduced me and found updates on his old mission district.
We ate lunch, packed, and set out to pick up the snow-shoes we reserved. It seemed it had been warming up the last few weeks, but there was a storm that came through a day or two ago, so hopefully there was enough snow for us in the mountains that we wouldn’t have to travel too far. It’s a beautiful sunny day, and I am thankful for the opportunity to spend the day outdoors.
The birds were chirping, children laughing, and people fishing. Breathing in the fresh air, we walked around the lake for a bit in the deep snow with just our boots until we decided to hike for real. There was considerably less snow on the road and it was closed up to the trail, so put our snowsuits on and carried our snowshoes to where there was more snow. While this was my first time snowshoeing, Victor had gone many times before, so as we walked and talked, he told me stories of his adventures.
There were a few snowmobiles that lapped us more than once. And when we weren’t wearing the snowshoes on our boots, we could hear the soothing brook and sing “Give Said the Little Stream.” When we got to a high place, I wanted to rest and take in the view and moment, while Victor wanted to explore a bit more down the trail. We both did so and stayed within sight of each other. I laid down to catch my breath, and enjoyed fresh air and sunshine. A short while later, Victor greeted me with a kiss and excitedly told me about some steaming fresh deer droppings he found.
We took some pictures on the way down the mountain. Victor shared his mitten with me so we could hold hands and not have our fingers freeze (even though it was too warm to wear all our gear most of the way). We got back to the car, took off our gear...and headed to the amazing park we saw on the way to the mountain! We were going to eat our snacks at the park, but the evening was quickly chilling the wind. I found the wind and the setting sun quite refreshing. We explored the park:  rocket, volcano, beehives, thrones, tic-tac-toe, board walks, dinosaurs, and Musical Bells and Blocks. We played some tunes, and a little girl asked where to hide for their game of hide and seek.
We went home, Victor told me I had planned perfect timing for our adventures, and then we watched “A Wrinkle in Time” together.
