Getting Help!

Tonight I chatted with a member of the Church who had fallen away from the church a few years ago. She had done some things she regretted, and then endured some hard times that reminded her how much she needed Christ, and even some support from people along the way.  She wanted to change and really needed some help.  As a missionary I can't help much besides offering encouragement and suggesting they talk to their bishop who's called to offer them the guidance they really need.  She was so scared that he would be judgmental about her situation.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

It took me weeks and I was way to ancy about getting the layout right, but I finally made this cool presentation about what Jesus Christ has done for us and how we can follow him.  The videos in it have some of my favorite Mormon Messages.  There's a surprise at the end, so check out all the videos and don't stop clicking for the next slide until it won't let you anymore.

Online Missionaries- Our new turf!

New Mormon.org - LDS Newsroom
I was so excited to see this article in church news. Most people don't know much about the elders in the online mission, or what we do as we help teach people through the mormon.org website. It was cool to see the small reference to the dozen of us that help people who come looking for Christ on the internet. I really like the new Mormon.org too.  All the elders in our mission have been having fun with the changes we see on what we feel like is our proselyting area.

Cassia's Baptism

My second Sunday here in Provo, we went to church with the singles ward across the street. They were having a "munch and mingle" for the single members after church. We went to get to know the ward members better, and spread the word more about Mormon.org.
One of the members told us she brought a friend to visit and then had to run off to take care of something. Elder Spencer and I went to go introduce ourselves to her visiting friend, and after following Cassia around for a minute, caught on that she didn't know English. After talking to Cassia with her friend to interpret, she agreed to hear about the Book of Mormon and the restoration right after the 'munch and mingle'...

What difference a table makes...

Again I saw myself sitting in the middle of one of the proverbs that the Savior used so much in his teaching. He said in Luke 14:8-11:
When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
I can imagine the higher and lower rooms being like the kids table and adults table my family would have at thanksgiving. From Christ's words I can imagine the shame the would come from taking a seat at the adults table and being told to go sit with the kids. By contrast, the joy that comes from being asked to leave the kids table and sit with the adults is it's own reward.  I know Christ expects us to humble ourselves and be willing to accept a role that's beneath what we want before he'll give us something better.

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

What beautiful feet?

After serving the wonderful people of Slovenia for several months, I learned that my foot was broken and that I'd have to return to the United States. I loved working with families in Slovenia and helping them find the blessings that the gospel can bring to their lives. Since I loved that so much, I wasn't ready to call it quits just because of a broken foot. I'm called as a missionary, and the Lord personally reminded me that I am of them which the Father hath given Him [D&C 50:41]. Instead of going home, I pleaded for an opportunity to serve the Lord, in which the problems with my foot would not interfere with the work. I know serve as a online missionary, bringing the glad tidings to all the world.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Isaiah 52:7
